This concept has been beaten into the ground. Every damn place I look, I read something about how Facebook and Twitter threaten to ruin the world...and it got me thinking a little. Since I spend just about all day on Gmail and check Facebook frequently, I'm starting to get a pretty good sense of just how different the respective status updates can be...at least among my friends. In a nutshell, I'm starting to notice that people are smart enough to not air their dirty laundry in their Facebook statuses (stati?)...but on Gmail, all bets are off. I suppose this makes sense, being that typically, Gmail contact lists are shorter than Facebook friend lists. But beyond that, I suppose I just wanted to start logging my favorites of each...and a few other stupid things. So here we go...I'll start every post with my own:
- My (best) chattus today: "Please, sweet Jesus...I beg of you to bestow upon my client the very slightest degree of competence...or at least to make this week go faster...or even better, just give me a flask full of Jameson to help ease the pain."
- My facebook status today: "...cruisin' down the street in my six-fo."
- Favorite chattus today (okay, it was yesterday, but it was part of my inspiration for this entire blog): "yesterday never happened" Beenu
- Favorite facebook status today: "Conway's Law: In any organization, there will always be one person who knows what's going on. This person must be fired." Jenn Jones
That's a good start. I frequent a few web sites during the day, and read lots of comments on my downtime...now, most of them are sports websites, which won't surprise those of you who know me. In addition to the status messages above, take a look at these:
- Comment of the Day (Intentionally Funny Division): dcist.com - Arlington Ranked #2 for Best Cities for Rich Singles "If you're rich and naked, I'm hunting you with a chainsaw and hockeymask inside a vacant condominium." monkeyrotica (as with all dcist.com comments, it's best to read the entire post and the comments to put it in context...but monkey's usually a pretty safe bet for a stand alone chuckle)
- Comment of the Day (Grammar Snob Division): Yahoo! Sports - Reports: Martinez close to joining Phils "everybody stop saying we should get roy halladay and other pitchers and not pedro martinez. because this is whats going to happen we are going to sign pedro then we will try to trade for halladay also but we have to trade happ in the trade so pedro will be happs replacement and then the rotation will be..." it just kinda trails off after that...thanks for giving me a grammar aneurysm, eric g!
That's it for today. Back tomorrow with more useless crap.
